Q: I am looking for a camping / tent trailer to pull behind my ATV?
The trailer must be under 50″ wide has anybody seen anything like that??
A: They make small tent trailers designed to be pulled behind motorcycles. I just did a yahoo search for motorcycle camper trailers and found a bunch of them. You could also check with local camper dealers.
Q: When camping with tent trailer (pop up), do you stay in the tent area of the campground or the RV area?
We’re looking at a VERY long trip across the country using our minivan and tent (as is our family tradition). But a friend has offered to let us use his popup trailer. Will campgrounds charge us more because we’re using a trailer (vehicle plus trailer v. tent)? Will we be placed with RVs (and their nice generators) or with tents or…?
A: I have camped in the upper Midwest for 35 years. Typically a campground segregates and charges based upon your needs. Many offer both electrical and non-electrical sites, electrical sites obviously being higher. Water is another consideration. State parks in our area do not offer water at each site though there are common areas to obtain it. We have camped in private campgrounds where we did have water to our camper. It’s often a nice luxury but can be considerably higher in price. Our usage in the camper is minimal enough to decline the option. We make sure our 25 gal. tank in the camper is full before we leave home and it usually lasts the weekend. Proximity to restrooms is always an important consideration if you have children with night bathroom habits. If you’re a parent you may be ready for the pop-up. A good nites sleep is important if you’re driving on an extended trip. It’s my opinion the worst matress is better than the best ground. I hope you have a memory filled trip.
Q: opinion on taking a eight month old camping in a tent trailer for a week?
A: You all will have a great time. Just make sure to bring sunblock and a few toys for your child to play with.
Q: Pop-Up Tent Trailers – Does anybody know who makes a hard side pop-up trailer for camping?
I saw one on the freeway the other day and it looked very nice (much heavier duty than the old screen typed ones). It was the normal size of a pop-up but it was made of plastic or fiberglass.. Thanks for your help.
A: i don’t know =(
Q: Has anyone ever turned a flatbed trailer into a mobile camping trailer or structured tent? Pics?
A: no pics but a couple of my buddys and i payed 50 bucks for an old pickup camper and just strapped it down to a car hauler with chains and load binders. had enough room to haul gas grill, two fourwheels, and my threewheeler too.
Q: Mouseproofing a tent or camp trailer?
My friend and I camp a lot either in tents or a small camp trailer. She is terrified of mice but would tear up a grizzly bear. Does anyone know how or what to ring around the ground perimeter of the tent or trailer to keep mice away?
A: For a trailer try to find some hedge apples (osage orange). What you want is the big green bumpy fruit. It is about the size of a softball and heavy. Late summer till early winter is when you find them on the trees. Put one every 5 feet or so in the trailer – in cabinets, under the couch or bed, etc. Most people can’t smell them but mice can. And they evidently don’t like it. After about a week the odor will penetrate everywhere and no more mice. After several months the fruit will dry to about half it’s original size and be brown and very lightweight. Time to replace them. As for tents, if mice want in they will get in.
Q: Travel trailer or Tent camping?
I’m spoiled Travel trailer.
A: well since you’ve already answered your own question, who am i to argue. it really boils down to the kind of experience you are looking for. tent out away from people, travel trailer with hook ups in close enough to get to the local diner. they both have merit for the specific outing. i usually go travel trailer for cold weather. a lot to be said for that big heater. i go tents in summer to get away from the noise. tent bonus points, there’s always comedy when someone sets their tent up for the first time. im always the guy with the camera. have fun.~~~*<>{
Q: Tent or trailer for camping?
are you going camping this coming long week-end if so where
A: Yep. I’m camping in a tent with my scout troop in mid-state Ohio. We’re doing a high rope challenge course and a canoe trip. I love tent camping. BUT I also love pop up camper camping. Never stayed in a full camper…they make me nervous, and also don’t seem like camping to me. Might as well stay in a motel, I feel. BUT lots of people love them…my girlfriend won’t camp any other way. In other words, it’s all a matter of opinion!
Q: 1 want to go to spain with my trailer tent on a camping holiday?
A: That really is not a question.
Q: Is there anyone else besides me who prefers Trailers to a tent?
I grew up trailer camping, my parents said they used to tent camp when I was young, but don’t remember it. I went from camping in trailers to tents when I got older and went without my parents. I did tent camping for 14 years. We bought a trailer in 2006 and I love it.
I would like to add, we still do the cooking outdoors. I just like knowing I don’t have to wander out to the bushes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.
A: You know, this is something that is kind of funny. I started off camping using tents, as I got a little older I moved to trailers just for the same reasons that you did. As time would have it, I have now gone back to tents because, I really enjoy the more natural feeling. It really is about personal preference. If someone is camping in a tent, and their neighbor is camping in a RV, it doesn’t mean that the RV’ers were not camping, because it is the cycle in which they are involved. The thing about camping is escaping the ordinary life at home, to get some time off doing something out of the ordinary, and lets face it, that feels good. I truly enjoy getting back to nature feeling the wind on my back, the heat of the fire on my face. I like the smells of the forest where I go. I like experiencing the sounds of the night time woods. I like the crispness of the air on my nose in the morning. No matter what I’m using as shelter. Camping really isn’t that much different to everyone, you still get the same rewards whether your in a tent or a trailer.
Q: Can I use a portable Air conditioning unit in a pop up tent trailer?
Im going camping this summer and its going to be HOT. I have a 6 month old that I will need to keep cool. We have electrical hookup at the site. Is it safe to use a portable air conditioning unit in a pop up tent trailer?
A: Yes but there two issues you will need to address. One is you will need to find a place to securely fasten the air conditioner so that it vents to the outside and cannot fall on anyone. The second point is the campsite electrical power. Be sure the air conditioner does not draw more amps than your campsite hookup. That hookup could be 15, 20, 30 or 50 amps. The 15 and 20 amps will have a standard household plug, but the 30 and 50 amp hookups have special plugs. So you also need to be sure the plug on your air conditioner is compatible with your hookup – if not, you can probably buy an adapter. The campground owner should be able to supply you with the electric hookup information.
Q: how can i hook up a trailer to pull my motorcycle behind my pop up tent trailer ??
I would like to somehow hook up a trailer behind my pop up tent trailer so i can bring my motorcycle with me when camping….
How can i do this, and is it legal ??
A: most places require the trailer in front to be a tandem axle trailer…. i doubt your tent trailer has 2 axles, so no, you wouldn’t be legal. if you’re up for swapping trailers, they do make tent trailer toy haulers with a utility trailer type front to them, you have to unload the cargo before the trailer can be unfolded though
Q: Do you like camping in a tent or a trailer? Which is more fun.?
A: i like to camp in tents because you can hear all of the creatures outside and if you go camping whats the sense of a camper.
Q: Anyone out there have some good advice for a first time Tent Trailer owner?
My wife and I just bought our first Tent Trailer for our growing little family of three!!! Its a used 1994 Coleman/Fleetwood Chesapeake and is in great condition. No leaks luckily. I’ve set it up now twice, once when we bought it to look at it and once to do a deep clean so luckily i’ve got that figured out. I have towed a lot of boats in my life so the towing isn’t the problem but once we get to where we are going I would love any help you can give me. I am an avid camper, but never done anything but tent camping. Here are my basic questions.
1. What are the must haves when camping in a tent trailer for 2 or 3 nights or more?
2. How long do most deep-cell batteries last if i’m running the furnace?
3. If my propane tank is full, how long will that last running the furnace at night and using to cook all 3 meals a day.
4. What are the fun extras that aren’t must haves but make life easier and camping with a tent trailer more fun and enjoyable?
5. What pressure should my tires be when towing? Should the pressure be less if I’m towing off-road?
6. What is the best way to charge batteries when your not near a permanent power supply? (outlet)
Thanks for any help you can give us.
A: I am only going to answer number 6. A solar panel would help, that is what we use during the day in our trailer to keep batteries charged.
Q: Is Marineland Canadas’s King Waldorf’s tent & trailer park camp ground a nice place?
Marineland Canada in Niagara Falls in Ontario has a camp ground, im looking for reviews of the place and some photos please. How is the place? Is it like a forest? Shady? Wide open? Busy ETC. Thanks.
A: I have never stayed there myself however I have heard they offer a lot of features for the price. A children’s playground, large tent site, electric and water hookups, full laundry facilities, washrooms with showers and tubs and free parking to name a few. Sorry, I don’t have any photos myself but I was able to find one online below.
Campers receive $4 off the price of admission to the park, and you will be within minutes from all the attractions.
Hope you have a great time!
