Q: I want to take my family tent camping in a secluded area in ma can anyone help me?
My husband and I would like to take our children tent camping because they have never been. We would like somewhere on a river and to be secluded because I do not want to disturb anyone else. If there is somewhere that we can have a few tents at once and two vehicles that would be great because a friend and his family would like to go. We would like to it to be in MA or NH any ideas?

A: have you tried the Berkshires absolutely beautiful ,peaceful ,secluded sounds like what your looking for! mass vacations.com is the tourism website(i think)

Q: Any family tent camping groups in southern California?
Have a 4 and 5 year old who enjoy camping. I am wondering if there is a family oriented camping group in southern California.

A: The YMCA, Boys/girls club, Boy Scouts of America are all active family outdoor organizations at 4-5 that’s on the young side for camping related activities with these groups but they do have family camps where the whole family can attend camp together. Calvary Chapel Costa mesa also has a family camping group and also has a family summer camp where they cater to young families such as yours as well. here is the info for that

Q: What is the best family camping tent? Experienced campers are needed!
I would like to purchase a family camping tent for my husband and kids – only problem, I don’t know ANYTHING about camping! I know I would like a 2 or 3 room tent, but I would like to be able to stand up in the side rooms. Some of the tents I have looked at it appears that you must “crawl” into the side tents. Is this a common thing? Also what do you suggest I purchase as necessities along with the tent? Sleeping bags, cots, stove? Any help is greatly appreciated, again I have never in my life camped so this is completely new to me.

What are some things that you find essential for camping? Things that you don’t leave home without???

Q: I have a tent, but no instructions. bag says Apartment 9 Family Camping Tent model#: GM4101 YB?
I think it is made by Quictent. I don’t know where I can find instructions for putting together tents. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

A: Too bad survival of the fittest doesnt chime in here…

Q: what is the largest family camping tent? we have 6 kids.. people plus gear..?
i want the biggest tent possible. to fit our bags as well..

A: You can get tents in any size you want to pay for.
But the bigger it is the heavier it is and takes up more room, both in the car as well as the camp site.

You will only be using it for sleeping and some storage, EXCEPT for food and other smellables!
You don’t want furry visitors in the tent.

Get a 3 room rectangle dome type.

Q: I’m looking for a fire retardant family camping tent, anyone know of any sites that have…?
…just those kinds of tents?
I’m trying to find one that has the capacity of ten or more people. I and whoever else that camps with me will be using air mattresses instead of sleeping bags so I want to make sure I still have plenty of room in the tent because the air mattresses are queen size and the big raised style kind. My budget that I set for one is no more than $250. A three season tent is all I will need because I only plan on using it in the spring and summer. Some of the brands I have already looked at are Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shop, Trek, Wincester, and Coleman tents that say they’re fire retardant. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me. I’ve been searching off and on for two months and if I don’t find one soon it will be too cold in my area to camp.

A: My family is really into out door activities. We do not live close by to a major camping store, so we have found that REI.com really offers a lot of selection for all of the outdoor supplies that we need.

Q: Where is the best campground for TENT camping in Salida Colorado?
Taking a family camping trip with a tent to Salida CO. We would like to do some fishing, hiking and possibly some horseback riding.

A: Hecla Junction is a great area to camp near Salida. It is off the main roads and set up against the Arkansas River. The fishing there is great and so is the scenery. It is managed by Colorado State Parks, so there is a fee to stay. The tent pads are large and level. There are also pit toilets which are nice when camping with kids and ladies. If your looking for a whitewater rafting adventure check out the Bighorn Sheep Canyon section of river just downstream of Salida by an hour. It is much more exciting and far less crowded than Browns. It is also great for kids! Have Fun!

Q: Is tent camping a good family vacation?
My family really wants to try it. What should I bring other than a positive attitude? What would I cook for meals for my kids?

A: It depends on the family. If your into the outdoors yeah it can be a great time. But it’s not for everybody. A few friends and I took their daughters camping 3 of them had a fun time. But the other was upset because she couldn’t get cellphone signal or that she was going to miss out what was happening at their local mall.

What to cook is hard to say. You know your kids better than us. We don’t know if their finicky eaters so I would suggest cook their favorite food & they should be happy. To get some cooking ideas check out this Boy Scouts site.

As for things to bring your list can very. You will have your tent, sleeping bags, air matresses, latterns, cooking gear, etc. But there are always the little things you might forget. To save time I keep all of my gear in rubbermade totes. I have a few for different things.

One is my cooking/kitchen items. This will contain my utensils, pans, coffee pot, paper plates, etc.

Another tote is my tent stuff. This contains my groundcloth, tent air mattresses & stakes.

The final tote is what I call my general tote. This has the other items like matches, bug spray, first aid kit, extra rope, batteries, rain gear, etc.

One thing I would suggest is bring something for everybody to do. One thing I carry with is a 7 in 1 magnetic travel game set. It’s small and takes up hardly any space. Another thing that is real popular at the campsites I go to is called ladderball. It a game you make out of PVC tubing, golf balls and rope. Here’s a link on how to play and make the game.

Have a great time enjoy the great outdoors.

Q: Where is the best family motor-home/tent camping spot at Lake Shasta w/boat ramp?

A: Well i would have to say ditch lake shasta, its not that good, i would go to Lake County, in California, its in the Napa Valley area. Its is AWESOME, its has nice warm sandy shore and the lake is MAGNIFICENT! clear and warm, its about 70 degrees F, and is amazing.

Q: Where can i find new older model family camping tents at a closeout price?

A: Try campmor.com
You can see their stuff online or request a catalog in the mail (free). They usually have great deals. They also have a ’super-special-deals’ section for discontinued items with extra savings.

Q: Please advice my family how to choose a 3 season tent for camping for 6 people.?
We would like to begin camping again this summer, but haven’t done any since before our children were born. Please advice how to determine the best choices for our investment. We need 1 with a lot of room and at least room for an air mattress. We would prefer 1 with multiple rooms option but do not want poor quality. Anyone know anything about Turbo Tents? Any advice- will be great.

A: I haven’t heard of turbo tents. A bit pricey I might say. If you want good quality, a stay dry guarantee, easy set up, and room for 6 + all your gear I recommend Colman Tents. And this model,

Q: I had a dream I was camping in a tent with my family, when I looked outside there were all these lions?
they were just walking around. My husband said we should pack up the car and go so we stayed quiet until they wandered away and suddenly there was a park ranger there to take us to safety……. any suggestions on what this could mean?

A: Lion

A pleasant dream about a lion – especially if you tame it – means that you are in control of your life and your emotions. If a lion in a dream is threatening, there are problems with a male in your life, possibly a father or boyfriend.

Q: Camping tent for a family of four (two toddlers)???

Q: Cheap tent camping in North GA?
I just want to take my tent and my little family camping for the weekend. I don’t need electricity and all that mess. And I don’t wanna spend over $20 for a place to set my tent. I can’t find ANYTHING with prices on the internet. Help!

A: Camping is free (maybe a couple bucks to park) in the cohutta wilderness, it’s really beautiful though it may be a bit much if you don’t like to hike.

here is a link to some good campsites in the chattahoochee national forest that you can drive right up to. you should be able to camp for less than $20/night

have fun!!
