Q: I am looking for a camping / tent trailer to pull behind my ATV?
The trailer must be under 50″ wide has anybody seen anything like that??

A: They make small tent trailers designed to be pulled behind motorcycles. I just did a yahoo search for motorcycle camper trailers and found a bunch of them. You could also check with local camper dealers.

Q: When camping with tent trailer (pop up), do you stay in the tent area of the campground or the RV area?
We’re looking at a VERY long trip across the country using our minivan and tent (as is our family tradition). But a friend has offered to let us use his popup trailer. Will campgrounds charge us more because we’re using a trailer (vehicle plus trailer v. tent)? Will we be placed with RVs (and their nice generators) or with tents or…?

A: I have camped in the upper Midwest for 35 years. Typically a campground segregates and charges based upon your needs. Many offer both electrical and non-electrical sites, electrical sites obviously being higher. Water is another consideration. State parks in our area do not offer water at each site though there are common areas to obtain it. We have camped in private campgrounds where we did have water to our camper. It’s often a nice luxury but can be considerably higher in price. Our usage in the camper is minimal enough to decline the option. We make sure our 25 gal. tank in the camper is full before we leave home and it usually lasts the weekend. Proximity to restrooms is always an important consideration if you have children with night bathroom habits. If you’re a parent you may be ready for the pop-up. A good nites sleep is important if you’re driving on an extended trip. It’s my opinion the worst matress is better than the best ground. I hope you have a memory filled trip.

Q: would like to hear pro and cons of camping tents, dome vs. pop-ups tents not travel trailer.?
up tents, not travel trailer.

A: I have used all kinds of tents in my lifetime, dome tents have the quickest set up, but they do not do well in the wind. I have owned a pop up trailer, its a tent on wheels, you get the benefit of a sink, a/c, table, etc… but it is still canvas and you face the same issues with the elements like wet canvas, heat during the summer, the a/c wont do much in temps above 90. What you go with kinda depends on how often you go, we go once a month at least, we took the plunge and upgraded. As far as tents go, I liked the dome we had, I had to put extra tie downs on it when the wind was gonna be up, set up is easy on a dome and they are lightweigt and easy to carry. If you are considering pop up, check it very thouroughly, maybe even ask to try it out for a weekend.

Q: opinion on taking a eight month old camping in a tent trailer for a week?

A: You all will have a great time. Just make sure to bring sunblock and a few toys for your child to play with.

Q: Pop-Up Tent Trailers – Does anybody know who makes a hard side pop-up trailer for camping?
I saw one on the freeway the other day and it looked very nice (much heavier duty than the old screen typed ones). It was the normal size of a pop-up but it was made of plastic or fiberglass.. Thanks for your help.

A: i don’t know =(

Here’s a site of Michigans state parks
Good luck!

Q: Do you like camping ?If yes.do you prefer tents or trailer?
So far ,i seems that camping with a tent, seems the most popular .I’m not going camping , but family is going again. The kids just love the sense of adventure. My grandson has portaged with his dad before and he may be doing it again in a few weeks.

A: I love camping, too. I have rough camped occasionally, just a backpack on a flat rock in Lake Powell. Beautiful. I have camped in a pop-up camper with the kids, then we got a fifth wheel which was real nice. My bones ache too much for rough camping anymore. I now own a park model trailer which is like a camping cottage. I know it isn’t really camping but I do have to wash the dishes by hand, and that is about as rough as I will have it now ! LOL A big hello to all my camping buddies and a reminder to stay safe, always carry water and never hike alone.

Q: Has anyone ever turned a flatbed trailer into a mobile camping trailer or structured tent? Pics?

A: no pics but a couple of my buddys and i payed 50 bucks for an old pickup camper and just strapped it down to a car hauler with chains and load binders. had enough room to haul gas grill, two fourwheels, and my threewheeler too.

Q: Mouseproofing a tent or camp trailer?
My friend and I camp a lot either in tents or a small camp trailer. She is terrified of mice but would tear up a grizzly bear. Does anyone know how or what to ring around the ground perimeter of the tent or trailer to keep mice away?

A: For a trailer try to find some hedge apples (osage orange). What you want is the big green bumpy fruit. It is about the size of a softball and heavy. Late summer till early winter is when you find them on the trees. Put one every 5 feet or so in the trailer – in cabinets, under the couch or bed, etc. Most people can’t smell them but mice can. And they evidently don’t like it. After about a week the odor will penetrate everywhere and no more mice. After several months the fruit will dry to about half it’s original size and be brown and very lightweight. Time to replace them. As for tents, if mice want in they will get in.

Q: Travel trailer or Tent camping?
I’m spoiled Travel trailer.

A: well since you’ve already answered your own question, who am i to argue. it really boils down to the kind of experience you are looking for. tent out away from people, travel trailer with hook ups in close enough to get to the local diner. they both have merit for the specific outing. i usually go travel trailer for cold weather. a lot to be said for that big heater. i go tents in summer to get away from the noise. tent bonus points, there’s always comedy when someone sets their tent up for the first time. im always the guy with the camera. have fun.~~~*<>{

Q: 1 want to go to spain with my trailer tent on a camping holiday?

A: That really is not a question.

Q: I’m considering moving to Phoenix, & am very into outdoor activities, especially camping. How’s the camping?
I enjoy both tent camping & pop-up trailer camping. Any infor would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: Yes, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation in Arizona. Unfortunately, the Grand Canyon State’s wild character is being compromised by runaway growth. Too many acres of desert are being bulldozed to make room for cookie-cutter McMansion subdivisions, and there is not enough water to sustain the people that are already here. People from more affluent parts of the country (like California) are trying to price me out. I’ve lived in Arizona my entire life, and I think that it’s great so many people love it here, but something really needs to be done limit the growth. People are loving Arizona to death.
Flame Away!

Q: Camping !! what sort of electric lighting can I use for a camper trailer?
I would like to use electric lighting as we will be camping on a powered site, the area to be lit is the trailer tent area and an enclosed sun room. I live in Sydney AUSTRALIA if you can direct be to a store or web site that would have suitable electric lights we could use whilst camping.

A: Your question is not quite clear as most trailers are all ready equipped with 12 volt auto electrical and or 120 volt land line. After market products to install solar are popular every where. For The enclosed sun room you could hang party lights just plug them in to any outlet on the rig.

Q: Is there anyone else besides me who prefers Trailers to a tent?
I grew up trailer camping, my parents said they used to tent camp when I was young, but don’t remember it. I went from camping in trailers to tents when I got older and went without my parents. I did tent camping for 14 years. We bought a trailer in 2006 and I love it.
I would like to add, we still do the cooking outdoors. I just like knowing I don’t have to wander out to the bushes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

A: You know, this is something that is kind of funny. I started off camping using tents, as I got a little older I moved to trailers just for the same reasons that you did. As time would have it, I have now gone back to tents because, I really enjoy the more natural feeling. It really is about personal preference. If someone is camping in a tent, and their neighbor is camping in a RV, it doesn’t mean that the RV’ers were not camping, because it is the cycle in which they are involved. The thing about camping is escaping the ordinary life at home, to get some time off doing something out of the ordinary, and lets face it, that feels good. I truly enjoy getting back to nature feeling the wind on my back, the heat of the fire on my face. I like the smells of the forest where I go. I like experiencing the sounds of the night time woods. I like the crispness of the air on my nose in the morning. No matter what I’m using as shelter. Camping really isn’t that much different to everyone, you still get the same rewards whether your in a tent or a trailer.

Q: I’m considering moving to Phoenix. I am very into the outdoors, especially camping. How’s the camping?
I do both tent camping and pop-up trailer camping. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks.

A: Not that good in Phoenix but un the Payson area it is great.
