Q: Do I get a title when I buy a camping trailer ?
I am looking at buying a camping trailer and was wondering if I should ask for a title ?

A: Trailers of any kind are a type of vehicle and have titles. Without a title you can’t get license plates for it.

We just bought a small trailer for camping. I mean small. It doesn’t have a stove so we need to get a little portable one. Which is safer, propane or gas? Which is the most economical? thanks

A: To put it bluntly….. None of them. They all produce carbon monoxide. When used in small enclosed spaces you can quickly be overcome by the carbon monoxide. Over the past 20 some odd years I have responded to many calls where people have died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

On a quick foot note if you plan on using the camper in parks that have electrical hook ups you can use an electric heater. They emit no carbon monoxide, and will turn off if they get knocked over.

A: The only thing AWD will help with is traction in wet, muddy, or icy situations. The larger engine will give you better ability to maintain speeds on upward slopes and the initial takeoff from a dead stop. A six cylinder will maintain its fuel mileage better compared to a four cylinder as well. Admittedly the six’s mileage is a bit worse to begin with though. For the engine, watch the torque numbers, and this gives you better towing.

Keep in mind that suspension and braking come into play as well. A tow package can go a long way in helping you. They usually consist of beefed up springs, a tow hitch and a lower differential ratio. Trailer brakes can help with stopping as well. Also watch your vehicle to weight ratios and make sure the vehicle is rated to pull the load.

I own an 08 F350 and pull a 6 horse trailer and hay on a regular basis.

A: Honda makes very nice portable generators. Low noise levels and reliable. Get something which you can trust to have parts and service available as needed later. Avoid any of the Chinese built generators.

Power requirements depend upon what devices you plan to operate. Determine your power level, acceptable noise limits, electric starting needs, and so on and go shopping. I am homeless 21 year old male looking for something to live in or a cheap trailer. I just want a place to live so i can get a job and have a stable place to stay. A: If your good at fixing and repairing plumbing, electrical, and patching dry wall you may want to check with some appartment complexes and see if they need a handy man. They some times offer free room and board just ot have you around to fix things. It’s a thought and a start. You may also want to check with the local shelters and exlpain the situation to them. They do have placement in halfway homes to help you get back on your feet. They would much rather have you willing to change and get back on your feet then to have you out on the streets. just some thoughts.

It has been left outside for a couple of years and is covered in mould and is very dirty.Would a solution of bleach and hot soapy help or is there a product available that will do the job.

A: the best product is PVC window cleaner that looks like a white goo that you scrub on then polish off! (available all DIY stores) or failing that ceramic hob cleaner (Sainsbury and lakeland)

bleach often wont clean the grime or embedded muck. after you do the PVC cleaner any stubborn algae can be removed using dettol mould remover (green spray bottle) spray onto surface on warm sunny day and leave!

I too have Carrier A/C’s on the roof of my motorhome and I feel they could do a better job. I need to pull the external cover off and see if everything is clean and free from dirt & alge build up.

My units are 4 years old and don’t seem to cool as well as my Duo Therm units did on my previous motorhome. The intake filters don’t seem to catch much dust so I suspect the inner coils may need cleaned.

My two Duo Therms would cool my Raita 36′ coach down to 72 degrees in 90 degree ambient. At the moment my two Carriers will only cool this UltraSport 35″ to 78 degrees in 92 ambient.

Good luck. I’d like to trade my carriers for Duo Therms except fot the remotes I have also control my furnace. I see no cure there other than run thernostat wire along the ceiling and walls.

Additional thoughts: Carrier might not want you to have a service/repair manual. It would not be good for business if everyone could repair their own A/C.

For TV & radio people there is a source of repair manuals. I believe they are called Sams Books or something with Sam in the name. If I’m correct, they were really called Sams Photofacts. It’s possible something is published for A/C’s

Q: How hard is it to replace the flooring in a 03′ Coleman Caravan Camping Trailer?
want to buy the camper, just wondering how hard it will be to replace the flooring. It is soggy, and needs to be replaced down the frame… hard?

A: Sometimes it is possible to lay a new floor over the top of the old one, that’s not very difficult to do. If the problem is just weakness in the sub-flooring material, you can lay new sub-floor over the top. If the problem is in the supporting joists then the trailer is junk. I’ve re-built several.
