Q: where can i find used camping trailers in MO?

A: there are several dealers at the Lake of the Ozarks, also a big one in Rolla ( i only know this because my parents jsut went shopping for a used camping trailer)

Q: What product is used on camping trailers roof to stop leaks i know its white but don’t know what it’s called
the roof is rubber

A: It’s called Snow Roof.

Q: Where can I buy an old,yet cheapy trailer used for camping?
I just want to gut it for my own use as a hauling trailer for logs.
I am only talking about 3′X3″ diameter logs.More like thick sticks, and it will be reinforced with metal tubestock. Thanks.

A: Check out e-bay and craigslist. I don’t know that a camping trailer would be sturdy enough for a log hauler though.

Q: Is there anyone else besides me who prefers Trailers to a tent?
I grew up trailer camping, my parents said they used to tent camp when I was young, but don’t remember it. I went from camping in trailers to tents when I got older and went without my parents. I did tent camping for 14 years. We bought a trailer in 2006 and I love it.
I would like to add, we still do the cooking outdoors. I just like knowing I don’t have to wander out to the bushes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

A: You know, this is something that is kind of funny. I started off camping using tents, as I got a little older I moved to trailers just for the same reasons that you did. As time would have it, I have now gone back to tents because, I really enjoy the more natural feeling. It really is about personal preference. If someone is camping in a tent, and their neighbor is camping in a RV, it doesn’t mean that the RV’ers were not camping, because it is the cycle in which they are involved. The thing about camping is escaping the ordinary life at home, to get some time off doing something out of the ordinary, and lets face it, that feels good. I truly enjoy getting back to nature feeling the wind on my back, the heat of the fire on my face. I like the smells of the forest where I go. I like experiencing the sounds of the night time woods. I like the crispness of the air on my nose in the morning. No matter what I’m using as shelter. Camping really isn’t that much different to everyone, you still get the same rewards whether your in a tent or a trailer.

Q: What is safer, a “white gas”/coleman gas or a propane stove to use inside a camping trailer.?
We just bought a small trailer for camping. I mean small. It doesn’t have a stove so we need to get a little portable one. Which is safer, propane or gas? Which is the most economical? thanks

A: To put it bluntly….. None of them. They all produce carbon monoxide. When used in small enclosed spaces you can quickly be overcome by the carbon monoxide. Over the past 20 some odd years I have responded to many calls where people have died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

On a quick foot note if you plan on using the camper in parks that have electrical hook ups you can use an electric heater. They emit no carbon monoxide, and will turn off if they get knocked over.

Good Luck

Q: where do all the rusted or junk camping trailers go?
where do all the rusted or junk camping trailers go? Is there a certain gaveyard just for those type of trailers or what? Reason i ask is because i want to build a car trailer and cant find any that i can use the frame off. Any Ideas ? I live in Flint MI. so if you live near or in that would probably help. I dont want to go no 100000 miles just for a frame..lol Thanks!!

A: websearch iron salvage

Q: Have any recommendation for a site to buy a used camper? Ebay, Craigslist, other?
I don’t know much about them, and I’m looking for a cheaper, used trailer for camping. Thanks

A: Craigslist doesn’t put you through the bother of bidding. They do have their share of scammers though, so be careful. I suggest only dealing on those that you can see locally. We sold our trailer on craigslist and had no problems. There seems to be a good assortment lately due to the economy. I do suggest checking out the “book price” of the units you are considering. Many people are trying for top dollar and start way above book. There are some good deals to be had.

Q: What is the cheapest camping trailer?
I am thinking of living in a trailer park.
Please recommend any trailer suitable for me.
I do not need shower in the trailer because a bucket is enough for bathing outside.
A toilet is not a must. If no toilet in the trailer, I will use a plastic bag or simply shit outside.
All I need is one bed and a table.

Which model is suitable for me?

Q: Does anyone have a favorite camping discount club that they’d recommend?
I’ll be getting my first camping trailer this summer and hope to get lots of use from it.

A: The Good Sam Club.
Check it out:

Q: Camping !! what sort of electric lighting can I use for a camper trailer?
I would like to use electric lighting as we will be camping on a powered site, the area to be lit is the trailer tent area and an enclosed sun room. I live in Sydney AUSTRALIA if you can direct be to a store or web site that would have suitable electric lights we could use whilst camping.

A: Your question is not quite clear as most trailers are all ready equipped with 12 volt auto electrical and or 120 volt land line. After market products to install solar are popular every where. For The enclosed sun room you could hang party lights just plug them in to any outlet on the rig.

Q: How many people like to go Camping?
I used to go camping quite a bit. I had a tent trailer. Loved it. How about you? Do you enjoy camping? Or do you prefer a hotel room with all the benefits?

A: i used to go camping too with my family. But we got busy and kinda stopped going. I liked it but hated the bugs so much! especially the spiders they’re so gross. once a snake went in our tent too and that kinda ruined the camping experience for me. and i always felt really dirty and grimy too. i miss is sometimes tho! nothing like a beautiful night around the campire looking at all the stars. i luv pretty views and we used to go to really nice places. it was fun (:

Q: Bot a used trailer, galvy, owner said it was all set, bolts on wheels are rusty- should I replace- maint?
first time boat owner. getting the motor tuned up. it is a used 25 hp evinrude. Want to trailer the boat a few hours away when camping this summer, don’t want it to fall apart on the highway. Concerned that the nuts holding onthe wheel are all rusted. Should I replace with brass or stainless? or leave well enough alone? Is there a site I can go to for what to do, what to look for maintenance wise on trailers. It is a bunk trailer for a 16 ft aluminum fishing boat.- nothing fancy. appreciate the help !

A: just clean up the wheel studs using a wire brush. Then take each nut off and then put some anti-sieze compound on the studs and put the nuts back on. Wheel bearing grease or similar will do the same thing. The grease or anti-seize stops water from getting on the studs.

Q: can i legally fit an inner tube to the tyres on my trailer?
Is it acceptable to fit inner tubes to the wheels on my small camping trailer for use on UK roads?

A: An out of control car and trailer have the weight to do a lot of damage so you risk the lives of everyone in and around your car…

Yet the UK has no trailer MOT test, so making sure yours is safe is entirely your responsibility…

Never use an inner tube in a trailer wheel, because they deflate suddenly when punctured…

Q: Where can I get a repair manual for a Carrier air conditioner for my camping trailer?
The Carrier air conditioner on my camper never has cooled to my satisfaction. I bought it new and It’s going into its 2nd year of use. Does anyone know where I can get a repair manual, or what the freon pressures ought to read? Any trouble shooting hints?

A: http://www.rvstuffusa.com/rvairconditionerbycarrier.html

See if this site helps.I believe you can link to Carrier from here.

I too have Carrier A/C’s on the roof of my motorhome and I feel they could do a better job. I need to pull the external cover off and see if everything is clean and free from dirt & alge build up.

My units are 4 years old and don’t seem to cool as well as my Duo Therm units did on my previous motorhome. The intake filters don’t seem to catch much dust so I suspect the inner coils may need cleaned.

My two Duo Therms would cool my Raita 36′ coach down to 72 degrees in 90 degree ambient. At the moment my two Carriers will only cool this UltraSport 35″ to 78 degrees in 92 ambient.

Good luck. I’d like to trade my carriers for Duo Therms except fot the remotes I have also control my furnace. I see no cure there other than run thernostat wire along the ceiling and walls.

Additional thoughts: Carrier might not want you to have a service/repair manual. It would not be good for business if everyone could repair their own A/C.

For TV & radio people there is a source of repair manuals. I believe they are called Sams Books or something with Sam in the name. If I’m correct, they were really called Sams Photofacts. It’s possible something is published for A/C’s

Q: What size generator should I be looking for to use in my tent trailer to dry camp? Approx. cost used or new??
Heres a list of what I want to run

Lights
Refrigerator
Toaster Oven
TV
DVD/Playstation 2
My family camps quite a bit for 7 days at a strech. I dont want to juggle my electricity. I want to plug in and be juiced.
Been looking at Yamaha vs Honda.

A: Depending on how you juggle the loads and the size of your refrigerator, a 2500 watt generator should be more than enough.
Check your local newspaper or for sale web sites (www.kijiji.com) for used generators. I’d personally avoid the low end Chinese built units. However if you only use it for a few hours per year and aren’t relying upon it for anything critical you may find the prices attractive.

You may want to look into how to connect the generator to the tent trailer as well as other safety issues. Read through my home generator page for other ideas.
